Piombino is a municipality of 34.369 inhabitants in the province of Livorno. The city rises upon the homonymous promontory and is separated from the island of Elba by the Piombino Channel. Piombino is part of the Etruscan coast. On top of the promontory is the Bovio square, from which you can enjoy the sight of the entire archipelago as well as of Corsica. L'Isola d'Elba The Island of Elba is the largest of the Tuscan archipelago and Italy's 3rd largest (223 km²). It is located at about 20Km from the coast. Elba is part of the National Park of the Tuscan archipelago together with Pianosa, Capraia, Montecristo,Giglio and Giannutri. The island is divided into eight municipalities, all referring to the province of Livorno. The largest one is Portoferraio; the others are Campo nell'Elba, Capoliveri, Marciana, Marciana Marina, Porto Azzurro, Rio Marinaand Rio nell'Elba.
